Large countryside villa, built in the seventies, 300 sq. m. with 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms suitable for 9 persons with a garden, private swimming pool and wide open areas perfect for spending your time outdoors. The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. The house is ideal for small groups of friends.

Outdoors and Swimming Pool
The villa is completely enclosed, with a large, well-kept lawn with tall plants measuring over 400 sq. m. on three sides of the house, perfect for staying outdoors and having barbecues. In a sunny, panoramic position, just lower than the house, is a rectangular swimming pool, 4 metres by 9 with a depth of 1.5 metres, externally paved on the shorter side and complete with sunbeds, outdoor shower and some shaded areas for relaxing or admiring some beautiful sunsets. Parking is inside the property.

Interior
The villa has been refurbished recently, with particular attention to detail and a classic style of furniture which creates a relaxing atmosphere. The house is on two floors. The main entrance is accessible from one of the outdoor paths. On the ground floor you will find the large, fully-equipped kitchen with dining table, satellite TV and fireplace, a living room with sofas and satellite TV, a double bedrooms with a four-poster bed and large windows, one bathroom with shower and washing machine. A staircase leads to the first floor, where there are 2 large double bedrooms with view and access to the outdoor terrace, 1 double bedroom with additional single bed and access to the outdoor terrace, 2 bathrooms, one with two sinks and bathtub, the other with shower.

Location
The villa is part of a large farm, surrounded by vineyards which produce great wine, in a raised position with a breathtaking view of the medieval towers of San Gimignano.

Nido del Merlo has Wifi, central heating, air conditioning in the bedrooms, high chair, mosquito screens in the upper floor bedrooms, 3 bikes, parking.

Services
The price includes: bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linen as well as swimming towels (changed weekly), water, gas and electricity (but not air conditioning and heating), internet, baby bed and high chair. Upon request and to be paid for at the property are hired help, cookery courses, dinners, outings and product tastings.

Important Information
Swimming pool open from 1st April to 30th September (9am-8pm). The owner lives on the ground floor, but with independent access from the garden.

    May 2022. 3 cousins - 2 from America, 1 from UK plus husbands have just spent 10 days at Patrizia's lovely villa. We were extremely pleased with our choice. Patrizia and her mother (Grandma Maria) were wonderful hosts and so generous with gifts of eggs from the hens, vegetables from the garden , even pizza, cold meats, bread, fruit and wine for a scratch meal on arrival, plus a selection of cakes and biscuits to go with coffee or tea. The villa, its elevated position with its view across to San Gimignano, the pool area and large garden were all wonderful. The pictures of the garden on the website need updating as they do not do justice to Grandma Maria's tireless work in the beautiful garden which was a riot of colour with a fantastic display of roses. We made good use of the barbeque (wood supplied) and Patrizia and Grandma Maria cooked a marvellous meal for us one evening which we ate in the lovely pergola in the garden of Grandma's adjoining house. The location is rural but not remote and very peaceful so it would have been easy to spend all the holiday at the villa. Being rural there were of course there were the usual country noises of barking dogs and the early morning call of cockerels. The 5 bedrooms were all very spacious and the terrace surrounding the 4 upstairs rooms was a real bonus. We used the downstairs bedroom and 2 upstairs which meant that each couple could have their own bathroom but it would have been easy to share. The furnishings were all very good. Missing from the website is a photo of the large comfortable lounge but the weather was so good we hardly used it and were able to take all our meals outside. The 9 score for the kitchen is only because there is a shortage of power sockets so it is necessary to juggle between appliances but this was no real problem. We would certainly return to Nido del Merlo and think anyone booking the villa would be as pleased as we were. The house number of the villa is No 42, on SP95 so feeding that into the sat nav as well as the co-ordinates would help getting there. Thank you once again Patrizia and Grandma Maria.     Nido del Merlo 8 was exactly as promised, perfect accommodations for a family. Beautiful views from every window. Awesome location for many day trips. Within a 10 minute drive of a train station (Certaldo) giving you hassle free travel to the major cities (Siena, Florence, Pisa). Patricia and Maria were excellent hosts. They met us upon arrival with wine, cheese, meat, bread, fruit, and sweets. This was the perfect welcome after many hours of travel. Throughout the week they checked on us many times to make sure that all was well and even surprised us a number of times with homemade traditional Italian fare. On our last evening we contracted for a cooking class and a meal at the property. The multiple courses paired with their wines were delicious. We were very fortunate to have selected Nido del Merlo 8 for our first visit to Tuscany.

    We had a fantastic time at Nido del Merlo 8! Not only are the location with a great view of San Gimignano and the quality of the villa outstanding, but the really special part of our visit was the wonderful engagement with the family owners. They are the most amazing hosts we have ever engaged with- thanks! Day trips on the Chianti trail and to San Gimignano, Siena and so many other spectacular Tuscan sites are a breeze from here.
