We were two couples staying in Tuscany for a week in June 2014 at this property. We had opted for the larger of the two areas of the villa because we wanted exclusive access to the pool. The villa had enough space to sleep about four families - it was huge! The pool is not heated, so if you are big swimmers, don't go to Tuscany in Spring - the weather was wonderful, but the pool was too cold to use. I imagine it would be glorious in the heat of the summer though. Our favourite spots were in the roof top hot tub at night, and the little bistro table look-out spot beside the pool in the morning. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Siena. The bathrooms were all modern and updated - a delightful treat to have in a 300 year old property. The beds were ok - typical Italian beds - a bit too short for us tall folks, and no "king size" beds. For us, that wasn't the reason we were there, but it could be a deal breaker for some. You would need a vehicle to get there, or take a cab from the Siena train station. It's pretty easy to find using the directions the property provides to you. We saw there was one bus route close by that ran once daily to Siena in the morning, and back again in the evening, so if you were relying on trains and busses, it is possible to stay there and still tour around. There are vineyards with wine tastings within a short drive or longer walk (but still do-able for the avid walker). The property is known in the region for it's olive oil, and I recommend bringing some back - it really is the best tasting olive oil I've ever had.I really want to take my extended family and live there for the summer one day. It's amazingly beautiful, and the property management is very accommodating and helpful.

I am reviewing CdC as a winery, not as accommodation but if there is somewhere to stay at the castle it would be worth looking into simply for the views. The view left and right as you approach up the gravel driveway are among the best we saw in Tuscany. We arrived unannounced at the end of the day whilst the winery was processing its freshly picked grapes so not the best time but we were made most welcome. We tried a coupe of wines, bought a bottle, had a little look around then left happy. It was a very nice place indeed.

There is nothing but wonderful things to say about out stay at Castello Di Cacchiano. We had seven beautiful days here and can’t wait to go back. The view, accommodation kitchen every bit of it was absolutely spectacular. A great location to travel to near by Sienna, Montepulcianio, Pisa which is a longer drive for a day trip but well worth it and even Florence.

We can't say enough about how amazing this place is, from top to bottom. A truly lovely and practical and roomy villa in a castle, with a private pool and a view that never tires. It was hot while we were there and so we used the pool and took advantage of the air conditioning (there's a unit in every room in the house), and then there's the jacuzzi on the top deck, which was especially great at night when the temperature dropped a bit and the sky was as clear as you've ever seen for star-gazing. Of course this being a working winery there was never an issue finding a variety of bottles, and a nearby store in a town down the hill provided enough provisions (larger groceries are a little further away, but not a lot). Our host was both accessible and gracious , and check-in and check-out was a breeze. You definitely need a car - anywhere in Tuscany really requires one - but you may not feel the need to leave this place every day because of how wonderful it is.
