Property features:

Original apartment, 60 sq. m., in the tower of a prestigious historical building in the centre of Florence, very close to the river Arno with a unique panorama. The property can accommodate two persons in one double bedroom (mattress with topper) and a bathroom and it's furnished tastefully with antique furniture and paintings.

Interior
The apartment is on the third and last floor of a marvelous historical building in Via Maggio, one of the finest in the whole city centre. The aristocratic building dates back to about 1470 and boasts a majestic courtyard, with a portico on three of its sides, decorated with statues.
The apartment is an authentic loft in a prestigious ancient tower, consisting of a living room with cooking area, a double bed and bathroom with shower. The large windows allow you to enjoy a unique 180-degree view of the historical city centre, the rooftops of Florence and the most prestigious monuments of the city.
The apartment is equipped with all necessary commodities, as well as beautiful antique furniture, precious textiles and pieces of art. The apartment has air conditioning, satellite TV and wifi.

Location
The property is in the historical area called “Oltrarno”: the name translates to “on the other side of the Arno” and is on the south side of the river. Oltrarno holds the true essence of Florence: a quiet area with many green spaces, making it more relaxing than other parts of the city, making it more and more appreciated by tourists. The area is also famous for its artisans, its beautiful workshops, small shops and studios (especially antique and leather dealers): via Maggio is the heart of Florence’s antique trade. Over the centuries, Oltrarno became a stylish area where many aristocrats built their palaces and villas: the largest of these is definitely Palazzo Pitti, where the Gran Duca di Toscana lived. Palazzo Pitti now hosts many of the city’s most important museums and exhibitions. The area also features the Cappella Brancacci with magnificent frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino e Filippino Lippi, Piazzale Michelangelo with its breathtaking view of Florence, the picturesque church of San Miniato (one of the highest points of the city and the best example of Romanic art in Tuscany) and Ponte Vecchio with its many jewellers and goldsmiths. Palazzo Pitti is also home to the marvellous Boboli gardens, an open-air museum with sculptures dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

Facilities
Stairway to Heaven has air conditioning, heating, wifi, hairdryer, toaster, iron and ironing board.

Services
The price includes bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linen, internet, heating, water and gas for cooking, 10 kWh of electricity per day (extra consumption will be charged) and final cleaning. Hired help is available upon request and to be paid for at the property.

Important notes
The building has a doorman from Monday to Friday, 8am-1pm and 2pm-6pm. Pets are not permitted. Smoking is not allowed. The property is for adults only. Arrival time is between 5 pm and 8 pm (after 8 pm a fee of 50 Euros is required). Any late arrivals have to be agreed upon in advance. According to the law established by the new Ministerial Decree for the energy saving, heating temperature must not exceed 19°. Paid parking is available in a public garage. The apartment is provided with an elevator to reach the first floor. A Wonderful Stay in Florence! In preparation for booking in 2023, we went to the link to review any new information. I had not written a review since our stay in 2022 as I frankly wanted to keep this little jewel to ourselves. First, the loft flat is in a beautiful Renaissance palazzo belonging to one of the noble and prestigious families of Florence, which of itself is a unique experience. As soon as you enter the Palazzo’s courtyard, you feel you are going back so many centuries and experiencing Florence fully. The location is in the “Oltrarno” area of Florence where all the artisans work and is a unique and special area. You only need to walk outside of the palazzo’s incredible, massive door and there are small boutiques, the best antique shops, art galleries, restaurants, bistro’s, bars, small grocery stores, and museums, including Palazzo Strozzi and Palazzo Pitti. It is just a very short walk to Piazza Santo Spirito where there is a daily, outdoor market that sells fruit, vegetables and other items. So truly an ideal place to explore a lesser-known part of Florence, yet still convenient to the more visited areas, which of course are very crowded. We stayed for a week in the Spring, and Florence was becoming quite full of people, but with the loft flat being quite high up in the Palazzo, in the actual tower, there was almost no noise. Even with the double insulated windows opened, we did not hear any sounds, except for at times the bells of the churches, and this is wonderful Florence. Of course, being in the tower there is a 360 -degree panoramic view of all of Florence which is extraordinary. It felt like a romantic dream. The very spacious (with wonderful high ceilings) and clean flat is beautifully furnished, and has every convenience, including air conditioning if needed. When we were there in May, it was beginning to be very warm outside, but the thick walls kept everything very pleasant, as well as the floor length curtains in the many windows. The bed was king-sized and very, very comfortable. So, in reading the other review, we are very surprised that those guests did not sleep well. It may be that there are two mattresses put together, but it definitively did not feel like it, and we had 6 nights of excellent sleep! Note that the bathroom is comfortable with a nice shower, but quite small, and there is a step going into it. It did not matter to us. As mentioned, the flat is in the tower of the palazzo, and so high up but there are two elevators that bring guests up almost to the flat. There are then other steps to the front door of the flat. The second elevator is a service elevator and thus is small and is for one person at a time. There were some very kind people at the Palazzo who work for the owner and who helped us with our luggage, as well as answered any questions we had about the flat and our surroundings. In concluding this long review, as there was much to say, we truly had a wonderful and romantic stay and felt so much at home here. The photos absolutely do not do it justice, and I wish that we could post some of our own. We truly, highly recommend staying here!
